Hi folks.

I'm separating my dining room/living room by putting in French doors. There were wooden ones there before years ago which I took off immediately as they looked horrible. Thing is, although the height is fine the width of the space means that with the standard door x 2 equalling 60" I'm left with a gap of 8". How do I go about filling this? I'll try to upload a photo here but the sides of the space are plaster. All wood has been removed. Any ideas gratefully appreciated.

Hi Paul and welcome!

I'm assuming you're looking for an economical solution.

You could put a 4" fillet each side.
This could be made with 4" X 2" cheap timber.

This could be faced both sides with veneered plywood.

You could make your own doors with the same plywood but that would be more expensive.

Made to measure doors would be even more expensive.
