Fixing Ceramic tile to Ceramic tile

Hi all, Could anyone out there please help me !! Iwould like to know if it is possible to fix ceramic tiles onto excisting ceramic tiles. If so could you also tell me the very best adhesive that should be used. The reason for this is that the excisting tiles are fixed to stud wall and to remove them might cause damage to the wall

I'm going to do just that to mount new stone around my fireplace. was planning on just using liquid nails. Didn't give it much thought as I'm not planning on using it for rock climbing. =) Good luck.
