Hi,
I'm in the process of insulating a detached garage. The walls are made of dense 100mm concrete blocks with two coats of exterior render. There's a damp proof membrane under the concrete floor. The roof is a flat OSB + 3-layer felt roof with about 150mm high joists (plus firrings). I've built 2x4 stud walls inside the garage in order to put Celotex GA4000 (or similar) PIR insulation inside them. The plan is to insulate the ceiling between the joists too.
My question is: Do I really need a separate VCL if I carefully tape all the PIR boards with aluminum foil tape (board joints and over the studs and joists)? After all it is not going to be used as a living space. It will be used as a workshop but not full time... Opinions?
