Anyone having a frost/freeze proof yard hydrant is aware that sometimes maintenance is required and in this instance the drain has plugged with root growth from vegetative root growth in the area. Relocating the hydrant or removing vegetative growth from the area is not an option.

For the question: is there a way to prevent this ?? so I did a short research and according to research Blue Vitriol as well as copper tubing in that area will help prevent this. ?? To your knowledge has anyone had success with either of these methods?

NOTE: a Blue Vitriol solution can be added via the hose connection at any time by siphoning if the drain is operating correctly.
