If someone ask what the wet / dry bulb temperatures are and you don't have a Sling Psychrometer to take those measurements don't despair and run to the nearest site and purchase one for a possible 1 time use.

Be a DIY'er and make one. If you have a alcohol thermometer, a fan, a tissue and water you can make one in seconds. Simply read the dry temperature then place the wet tissue on the alcohol thermometer bulb and place before a fan. The difference in those 2 temperatures is what a HVAC man is looking for.

Now let's say you are up beat and only have a Infrared thermometer, it's not a complete loss because a piece of dry metal temperature not in the air stream then a wet metal temperature in the fan breeze shot with your Infrared temperature gun will accomplish the same thing.

There are relative humidity charts to calculate RH from those 2 numbers and at about 3:00 pm my house humidity is a little higher than I would like.
