Water heater flooded

My water heater is in my basement which recently flooded. The water heater was completely covered in water. What are the odds of it working right after something like that?

If it's a natural gas (or oil) water heater, I'd say it's dead.

If it's electric, the contactor (AKA mechanical relay, or a switch) is likely dead.

Either way, I'd say your odds are slim.
