Hi,
I just replaced the thermostats and elements on an electric hot water heater. Unfortunately, I can't put the plastic safety covers back. The bottom one broke and the top one won't fit over the new thermostat.
Can I just put the little flap of insulation back and put the cover on, or do I need to leave them open until I get new covers?
