Help! I bought a new dining table just before Christmas. It is made to look like solid wood, but I think it is formed/pressed chipboard with a paint that is now starting to flake and chip off the surface of the table. The retailer will not help with a refund or exchange.
I'd like to put some kind of clear coat or lacquer over the surface before the flaking gets out of hand. Is there any suggestion for a product I should use? Lacquer, shellac, poly? I want something that won't bubble or flake, but also has a nice smooth and dourable finish for a dining table.
Thanks
