Shower tile

I have an older style shower. It is small and dark. 3 sides are vinyl, one one side is for the curtain. I am looking for ways to brighten the shower and update it.
I was thinking about the peel and stick backsplash tiles, but I'm not sure if they are waterproof and will stick to the vinyl. Is there anything out there like these times but to use in the bathroom over the existing shower walls?

My brother put a fiberglass shower stall inside his old shower in his basement. The stall was a little smaller than the old shower housing so he filled the gaps with sheet styrofoam. It looked great and was very bright as opposed to the old cement shower.

You can add some rough glass tiles or whiten the wall. Refurbished the wall to a brighter color.
