Need to know if this complies with building regs?

Im having a staircase put in and when the front-door is open it covers the bottom step. My builder says it does comply and everything I'm finding on lone relates to a landings etc. Building Control are visiting when works are completed but i am trying to find out before.

Call your local municipality (town, city) inspector. You can ask them. If the builder is wrong, the inspector will be your advocate.

The front door can open up and block the lower landing or swing over it and still meet code. Reference IRC R311.5.4 for more information.

think you'll have problems with firer egs your door is opening on to the bottom step turn it round to open to the wall
