Name of Joint

[Maintenance 101]

What is the name of the perpendicular joint where you cut half way through both boards and slide them together at right angles, as in making cube storage racks? Also, what is the best bit to use on a router table to make these cuts 1/4" wide in 1/4" polycarbonate?
