methanol and propane

I got tired of being ripped off by the Propane Supply people so this summer I bought a used tank 250 gal. I was told it had been used last winter with no issues. However before I get propane I need to know should I add some methanol just in case there is moisture in the tank. I read where 250 gal. tank requires 12 oz. I would like to know if I don't have moisture in the tank would there be a problem. I would think not. I have asked suppliers if they add methanol and they all say no. I find that hard to believe as they have to deal with this from time to time I would think.

Any comment from someone with knowledge in this field is greatly appreciated.
