We have an existing wall switch to control our family room ceiling fan. There are 3 wires - black, white and red and the wall switch could control fan lights and fan separately. We had an electrician install recessed lighting and he ran the wiring for the recessed lights off of the ceiling fan box (see attached photo). He then rewired the wall switch to control just the recessed lights - leaving the ceiling fan box hot. End result is that we now can control a fan only from the wires attached to the fan. I'd like to be able to control the fan from the wall again - and separate from the recessed lights. There is another switch on this wall outlet (see photo) that controls an outlet. I'd like to convert that outlet to always hot and somehow control the fan with a dual (lights and fan) switch.
