Refrigerator icemaker problem

The ice maker is making very little ice. The water line for the ice maker enters at the top of the freezer compartment. The water flows along a chute/spout into a resevoir where it is guided into the tray where ice cubes are made and then dispensed into the bin. The water freezes at the chute/spout and there are also pieces of ice in the resevoir.
I have used a blow dryer a number of times to melt the frozen ice in the chute and resevoir. The water then flows slowly along the chute and some ice cubes are made although smaller than usual and not whole. In short time the water along the chute freezes again and no ice can be made. The water filter is new and I suspect there is a problem with the water flowing too slowly from the feed allowing it to freeze at the chute/spout. Any help appreciated.
