i asked in the building forum but got no hits so let me try this here.
i have a new house i live in muskegon michigan about 5 miles from the lake. they insulated the new house with 12" of the dark gray color insulation. they told me it is r40 rated. i looked in the code recommendations for my area and i'm told r50 or a bit more is code although they never did check to see what it was.
so my question is do you think adding r19 batts will be beneficial? my furnace is a 60k btu 95 it is a condensing furnace a tempstar e95esn it runs about 10 minutes every hour or so.
so would adding 600$ worth of r19 batts be worth doing? i can lay them on the truss joists myself. it will cost under 1,000$ now but that can go up fast as we know.
