Hi,

First time posting here!

I have an extractor fan that I am replacing with a new one. However, the cable entry/terminal positions differ such that the existing 1mm 3core+earth cable is only 2cm too short to screw in and I cannot run a new one as it is embedded within the wall.

Would it be acceptable to use some red butt crimps, heat shrink and short lengths of cable to extend the cable? The crimps would be within the extractor fan itself and there is space for the crimps.

Hi
In a word, yes. I would suggest though that you use a proper ratchet crimping tool, the plain pliers type crimp tools are not really up to the job, especially with solid core conductors.
