Good evening all,
Looking for a little advice on a stone property purchased in 2019, built in circa 1700. Previous owners had the front garden paved, and created a channel along the front of the house, which they filled with pea gravel.
We‘ve recently had the front house wall repointed in lime mortar (cement mortar had previously been slapped EVERYWHERE), and removed the pea gravel in the channel during the clean up. Since removing the gravel I’ve noticed that there isn’t enough, or any, of a slope in the channel, and it’s actually collecting and filling with water, rather than carrying it away to a drain at one end. Green growth shows one area where this is happening.
Looking for recommendations on how to rectify. Initial thoughts are to part chisel away at the existing concrete channel and pour something fresh with sufficient slope to drain away properly? Should I avoid using cement if taking that approach? Conscious of it being it contact with the stone.
Many thanks,
Paul
