I needed to paint my front house door to keep up with the new house paint color. I used the noted Valspar paint on my shutters which I sprayed and it worked well. It took several coats but spraying on a good drying day was an easy job. So this week I got to repainting my door. It needed sanding and some primer touch up here and there on the metal door which has pretty solid old paint other than the spots. So, I did the brush and dry roller, roll the paint and the finish came out great, but lousy coverage. So I waited a day (can says 8-12 hours before recoat, web site say 4hrs-4 hrs, what ever that means). Same approach for coat 2. Terrible coverage especially where the white primer had been applied. So, day three, coat three. Color is nice but terrible coverage. And it does not look like coat 4 will be much better. We have a Cranberry sort of color and the finish looks like a 1960 Candy Apple red coverage on a hot rod. I looked on the Valspar web site and there are lots and lots of the same complaint about the coverage. My next move is using a different paint after letting this stuff dry for a a few days. I was wondering if anyone else has any other thoughts?
