I would be interested to hear from anyone with experience of having added soundproofing between floors and/or walls in an existing building, with floorboards and lathe and plaster ceilings. I would like to stay as 'green' as possible and with as little fuss as possible too not to mention keeping costs down but then I guess that applies to all
Cheers

up the junction
Soundproofing in old buildings was achieved with soundboards and ash, soundboards were like horizontal laths, only about 1/2" - 5/8" thick. Loose placed between the joists on bearers fixed to the sides of the joists, the ash placed on top of this, normally 3"-4" thick.
Hope this helps...bosshogg:)
