Basement foundation walls had cracks repaired with hydraulic cement. These repairs are at least 20 years old, and some are starting to fail and water is leaking in. Can someone recommend a method of removing old repair to re-do, or suggest a different method. Thanks.

My first house in Michigan had bad cracks in the poured basement walls. Someone had tried to repair them also. With a hammer and chisel I removed as much of the old repair work as possible. I then used a concrete repair compound specifically made for this purpose and filled the cracks carefully. Once it was dry I painted the entire basement with a product called UGL. Although I had condensation problems, I never had a leak after that.
