Removing staples from resin trim

I'm trying to remove some staples from this resin corner trim on a mirror. The trim is nailed to the wood frame. I can't grab the staples with regular pliers and I can't pry them up from the side because the trim is in the way. I tried prying off the trim from the wood directly but since it's stapled in two perpendicular axes it doesn't seem to go.

Any ideas? I haven't tried digging out the staples with needlenose pliers but that will probably leave a mark in the trim.
