Hi,

I'd like to tighten the screws that fix the door handle to a wooden door - as I think the whole thing might come loose otherwise. However, I can't get access to the screws!!

The plate that covers the fixings on the face of the door is smooth, and I haven't been able to prise it off. The only screws I can see on the outside is a small screw that fixes the handle to the spindle. I've tried taking this out and tugging at the door handle - to no avail.

Can someone please advise how I should proceed?

Thanks.

Hi Anna, I am struggling to visualise this. Perhaps uploading an image would help.

I would imagine that the plate must slide of somehow.

If not sliding try prying it off with a flat screw driver. As you have stated it is covered by a plate try to find some openings where you can insert the screw. The after prying try replacing it with a plate with screws so that the next time you need to open it you don't need to pry it again.
