Hi,

Not sure about posting here as it is not really a DIY issue, but here goes anyway. I have an active, but randomly functioning landline that I want to park in order to cancel the service. It is with CenturyLink (Lumen) and they have no intentions of fixing the line to correct the problem. They want me to upgrade to their fiber optic internet service or cancel their service altogether.

I am choosing the latter because I don't want their internet service, but for now I want to hold onto the phone number. There are contacts that have that number which I don't want to currently change to my cell phone. I also don't want to have the calls forwarded to my cell phone either. All I want is to park the number, use my own greeting for calls coming into it, and receive emails from the parking company to notify me when someone has called the line. I don't need any more than that.

The landline is a simple no frills line I have had for years, so no call forwarding/caller ID/etc. I have my own answering machine connected to it to record incoming calls, I never answer the phone, and listen to the messages left to determine who I will return calls to. I want to replicate that as simply as possible.

I tried Number Barn as it seemed one of the simpler offerings that would fit my needs. But, their web site/process is woefully lacking. While they did try to help me by suggesting they would set me up as a member, it astounds me that there is no way to do that on my own without first signing up for and agreeing to paying for their services. Anyone else have issues with Number Barn?

Has anyone signed up for a parking service like I am wanting, other than Number Barn? Btw, I don't want Google Voice. Thanks.
