Painting over satin skirting boards?

If I re-paint my satin skirting boards, can I just clean them up with a sugar soap wash and then paint over the top with more satin paint when dry?

We have a whole house of skirting and stairs to paint so I want to make sure I do it properly, but it's so much quicker if I can paint over the existing satin.

Yes, that's fine, rinse off the sugar soap though, and you really should also rub down with 120 grade abrasive paper, and dust off before painting.

Thank you John, I've got them almost all washed now (just taking a break), so I'll start sanding/dusting after this.
