well im sure ud either got it or dont by now lol but my parents had an acrylic splashback and dont think theyve had any problems with it, and tbh it does look really nice, i went ahead and had a coloured glass splashback in my kitchen when i had it renovated.
I dont recommend it, it is brittle to cut so diffiicut around sockets and no use for hobs as temp reccomend is about 100 deg C
You could use if you dont mind the work fitting and use stainless stee behind the hob.
It is also expensive.
