Hi guys,
Ive bin in my new home a few days and just noticed a gas leak coming from the restrictor elbow feeding my gas fire,i put some washing up liquid on the cap and small bubbles started to appear, i checked the cap and it was quite slack so i screwed it off and gas hissed out,i have re-tightened and checked again with no leak present.
Is it normal for gas to leak past the grub screw?
Does the cap and red fibre washer do all the sealing?
Do i need a corgi registered fitter to inspect?

It is normal for gas to pass the screw threads inside when the screw is in the on position but obviously it will stop when this is screwed down.
The outside screw caps fibre washer does the sealing when the valve is turned on.

If you have checked it for leaks with leak detection fluid (weak soapy water) :D and it is not leaking you will be OK.
