Hi, I am looking for advice as recently moved in to new home and we are sorting out carpeting the bedroom (currently floorboards).

I notice there is a gap of between floorboard and skirting. What is the best way to fill this gap in readiness for carpet being laid. The floorboard at one part falls short of reaching the wall (skirting) by a few mm’s aswell as gap from floor up to the skirting.

Well, I am no carpet layer, but I know that beneath the carpet there is underlayment throughout the entire area and tack strips along the baseboard (skirting).

It may be that no added lumber/wood is needed as the Tack Strip comes close to the base (skirt).

Anyways, that's my idea!
