Electrical Question

I would like to put two new lights in my kitchen/diner. Each light has 7 x 40 watt bulbs, total 280 watts. I would like to control them independently with a double dimmer switch. Does the dimmer switch need to be at least 560 watts?

No, i think it is much better that you use separate switch for both of your bulbs.
