Some nine years after our loft conversion. I still am getting damp patches on the wall next to the stairs that have been put in. The damp patches come and go.
As far as I know, the builders put battens on the wall then plaster board.
I guess there is moisture in the cavity behind there somehow.
The wall on the other side is rendered and originally I thought that the ridge tiles were the problem as the pointing between them was dodgy and some were broken. Anyway, the ridge tiles were renewed some years ago and the problem persists.
Perhaps the render is porous. It’s hard to tell.
There is a vent marked with a red arrow in the picture. They probably blocked it.
Do you think I should make small holes in the plaster board to vent? Any other suggestions?
Incidentally, my neighbour has the same problem after his conversion.
Many thanks in advance for advice.
