Help! bought a second hand cot ,quite scratched.Do I have to rub it all down and revarnish? or just rub over scratches and touch up with varnish? Any particular varnish? I dont want to ruin it.:eek:

I would advise rubbing down the whole thing and varnishing it all over, otherwise you will end up with an uneven look. Make sure you get rid of all bits of grit and dust etc before applying the varnish. And if the varnish has been stored somewhere cold, let it warm up before - it will make applying it easier and provide a smoother finish.

P.S. make sure you check the tin for any instructions specific to the varnish that you have bought.
