Caulking Exterior Windows

I have wood frames on my windows covered with vinyl (no J channel) all are not caulked nor is the wood underneath, the vinyl covering is nailed to the wood frame with small nails in corners, can I caulk the vinyl to the stucco house or am I trapping water....help!
