I am looking to build a pergola 20x22 using a kit made from Alumawood. I am planning to use 3x3 steel posts. Originally I was going to bolt the steel posts to a 4in concrete slab. But after reading, I am planning on cutting the concrete to sink the steel posts 36".
The pergola kit I am looking at is rated for 90mph winds, with a max rating of 120. M main worry is about hurricanes, as I am planning on installing in southern florida. Does anyone have experience with Alumawood, and how do pergolas handle hurricanes. I am new to southern florida, Any thoughts or hints would be appreciated.
