Vaillant cvw gb 221H ch overheat thermostat wrong thread

My Vaillant CVW 221 H Central heating overheat thermostat/ temprature regulator packed in,So I got a replacement but it has a smaller thread and it won't fit .The part number ( 101462 )on the sealed packet is, which according to replacement parts web sites is correct, but on my boiler the threaded hole is bigger .Question does anybody know if there are two different sizes or has had a similer problem.
