Shower Hose Query

Hi Guys/Girls,
A very quick query.

We have just bought a showe hose for a property but as can be seen on the pictures attached, the standard shower hose that the large DIY shops (homebase) sells, does not fit.

I have attached an image of what the shower attachment end needs to be (with the thread) and would appreciate someone telling me what I am doing wrong if possible!

Either the 1/2" brass nipple came out with the old hose (and just needs unscrewing and replacing)

Or it is a special hose with the nipple attached but if you can get a new 1/2" brass nipple and seal it into the mixer valve with PTFE tape your new hose will fit onto that.
I am assuming that it is a 1/2" thread as it is bad to tell from your picture but if your new hose screws onto it it will be.

Don't let them give you a iron nipple as it will rust
