Hi
I have just moved into a house in Wales and it has an old neglected coach house that needs some work to make good. The front doorway is arched and has been propped up with a wooden prop. My thinking is to insert an RSJ below the arch and then pack the archway to hold the stone work above up. Also the back wall is open at the bottom and the wall above held up by a couple of planks acting as support beams my thought is to build up the wall and leave the wooden planks in situ as I cannot see how they could be removed without the wall collapsing. I have heard of strong boys being used but these walls are not brick so not sure if I could use these?
