NOBO thermostat

I have a flat controlled by NOBO electronic controls. One classic old style electric radiator is not working. The NOBO receiver allows power to the electronic thermostat on the rad, but not beyond. However the rad and grey boxed electronic thermostat have no marking on them. It looks as if it is a special to match the warehouse look. I have a photo but could not paste it on the forum. The manual for the flat lists everything except this rad. The builder has not got back to me and local stockists do not recognise the rad or the grey boxed thermostat. Any ideas.
I was thinking of fitting a wall plug in digital thermostat and wiring it to the element through the safety snap switch in the grey box but was concerned the 3KV element would be either on or off and may get too hot.
