Got a bit of a problem, we are getting no hot water to tap in kitchen, but upstairs is ok, and radiators downstairs and upstairs are fine. Could someone please help me? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you might have an issue specifically with the hot water supply to the tap in your kitchen. Since the hot water is working fine upstairs and the radiators are also functioning properly, it's likely a localized problem. There are a few potential causes to consider. It's possible that there is a blockage or a valve issue in the plumbing leading to the kitchen tap. You may want to check if the hot water valve under the sink is fully open or if there are any obstructions in the pipes. If you're not comfortable troubleshooting it yourself, it's advisable to consult a professional plumber who can identify and resolve the issue more accurately.

If you're experiencing a lack of hot water to the tap downstairs, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to identify and potentially resolve the problem:

  1. Check Other Taps: First, check if other taps in the house are also not receiving hot water. This will help you determine if the issue is localized to just the downstairs tap or if it's affecting the entire hot water supply.
  2. Water Heater: If other taps have hot water but the downstairs tap does not, the issue might be with the specific tap itself. If no taps have hot water, then the issue could be with the water heater.
  3. Check the Water Heater: If the problem seems to be with the water heater, check if it's functioning properly. Is it powered on? Is the pilot light lit (for gas heaters)? Is the circuit breaker for the water heater tripped (for electric heaters)? If any of these components are not functioning, it could be the cause of the problem.
  4. Water Heater Temperature Setting: Make sure the temperature setting on the water heater is appropriate. If it's set too low, you might not get hot water. Consult the user manual for your water heater to find the recommended temperature setting.
  5. Check for Leaks: Check for any leaks or dripping pipes around the tap and water heater. A leak can lead to reduced water pressure and affect the hot water supply.
  6. Hot Water Supply Valve: Ensure that the hot water supply valve connected to the downstairs tap is fully open. Sometimes, these valves can inadvertently be turned off or partially closed.
  7. Blocked Pipes: Sediment buildup or debris in the pipes can block the flow of hot water. If you suspect this might be the case, you can try flushing the hot water pipes by turning off the water heater, attaching a hose to the drain valve, and draining some water to clear any debris.
  8. Pressure Balance Valve: Some taps have pressure balance valves that regulate the mix of hot and cold water. If this valve is malfunctioning, it could affect the hot water supply. Consult the tap's user manual for guidance on adjusting or troubleshooting the valve.
  9. Plumbing Issues: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there might be a plumbing problem in the pipes leading to the downstairs tap. You might need to call a plumber to diagnose and fix the issue.
Remember that if you're not comfortable with performing any of these troubleshooting steps yourself, it's best to seek the assistance of a professional plumber or technician to avoid causing further damage or creating safety hazards.
