moving cooker switch what wire to use?

Hi I am installing a new kitchen ,last year I had the house rewired, my issue now is the connection socket for the cooker is too high its sitting behind the hob. I have attempted to move it lower down on the wall ,only issue is the wire inside the wall has no give it is just enough to reach the cooker switch. What kind of wire do I need to swap this out with ? Would the wire from a cooker do or is that just daft ? Any tips would be appreciated. Sharon
