Leaking drain pipe question

I have a pump that pulls water up and down to this drain. When the pump first kicks in, especially, it leaks water here. Is this a solution? A plumber added this cement type material around the problem area. Part of the problem is the receiver part of that joint tilts a little, and the plastic drain comes straight down at 90 degrees, so they don't match exactly. Will this be a long term fix?
