Hi,

I just wondered if anyone could provide a bit of advice about choosing kitchen worktops. I currently have laminate worktops in the kitchen, and I need to change them as one of them has a bend in, and the laminate edging has come off the front. Anyway, I've been doing about research on the cost of replacing them etc and I came across a seller on Ebay who supplies the solid surface worktops, at around the same price as a good quality laminate would cost from say B&Q. Does anyone have any experience of solid surface worktops? The seller has a range of colours and sizes, with different thicknesses of solid surface. To be honest, I'd rather have the solid surface ones for around the same price. Also, are the worktops ok to fit? A kitchen fitter known to my husbands brother would be fitting them. Any advice would be appreciated.

Forgot to ask, can I get a 65cm worktop, over a 60cm worktop, stupid question really (or will the over hang be too much)?

Hi annie1

These worktops, although almost bullet proof in use, do require specialist installation. You may find that when you take the extra cost of labour and special cutting equipment into account, new laminate would be more attractive.
If you have 60cm now, stick to it.
If you really do go for solid, ask the installers opinion first, and get him to take a look at the kitchen before ordering.
