So I'm in the process of replacing, all the old water lines. I'm using nothing but pex, for new lines, and shark bites for replacing old connections .
I'm trying to remember a heat tape product to insulate the pipes under crawl spaces etc.
I can't find anything practical online.
Am I just incorrect about being able to use this? Any help

Shark bites are not ICC approved and should not be used (not permitted) in concealed locations. If you do use them check them regularly as they are known to fail and leak. A better approach is to use the appropriate adapters for connecting the pex to your current supply line type. They make sweat on adapters for copper (available at all home centers) and glue on for CPVC (special order or plumbing supply outlets). If you have galvanized and are replacing the water lines you are required to remove all the galvanized pipe and replace it with copper, cpvc, or pex.

Generally it is not necessary to install heat tape or insulation on pipes in crawl spaces. Most crawl spaces stay well above freezing. If your does not, heat cable runs between $2.35 to $2.95 per foot and is available in various lengths. Most home centers carry 8, 12, 16, and 20' lengths. You can up get up to 100' lengths from plumbing supply outlets (both brick and mortar as well as online).

Pipe insulation basically comes in foam sleeves that fit around the pipe. These run around .29 cents per foot and are generally sold in 6' lengths at home centers. Other types are available but cost more.

Thanks, that's actually what I'm redoing.
Previous lines run through the walls, and anytime a leak happened I had to rip out a section to fix.
The section im doing. Will start at the shut off valve to an apt. Going to the bathroom sink, toilet, tub, and washing machine.
Everything is that old gray lines that there was/ is some lawsuit over, and lines are connected using metal rings, clamps.
Just going to run everything underneath. That way I don't run into the problem anymore.
For some reason I thought foam was garbage.
Thanks for any and all input.
I'm horrible at terms because I never had to know them. Always just went to the store grabbed what I needed.
