I have a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator with ice dispenser on the door. It makes ice, but will not dispense the ice unless the door is all the way open. We discovered this by accident. We put a piece of tape over the "door open" sensor so the fridge thinks the door is closed, but the ice will not come out until we actually open the door fully. Any ideas?

If anyone else has this problem, a tech came out and said there is a wire that goes through the door that is bad. Unfortunately, for this particular model (Kenmore 601) you have to replace the whole door ($1000). The fridge is 4 years old, so we decided to put up with the inconvenience.
