No errors on display

Machine fills, seems to go though wash or rinse cycle OK ... but does not enter spin cycle. For example if you set to ‘Rinse & Spin’ cycle ...it goes through rinse, it reaches end of rinse, pumps out the water and then just hangs ..
It continues with short turns of drum fwd & bkwards but never enters spin cycle.
It shows ‘RINSE’ on display, and does not move on from short turns, which are presumably to help spread/balance load prior to spin.

Have checked filter is clear, any suggestions? It’s not motor brushes as it’s a 3ph induction motor.

Now if we empty machine it will spin happily with drum empty .... any amount of wash load and it does not spin (other cycles are fine). on-line there is a mention of imbalance detector, anybody know where this is and how to test it ?
There is a ‘detector’ on the end of the motor shaft .... it’s multi-segmented and no. Contact, assumed it’s an rpm detector to feedback to motor control ... but have no proof of that.

How old is this machine?

If it's old made in USA you may be in LUCK: you might need a new dial. (repairing them - not easy). they are physical contact (copper to copper) dials with a timer that moves them. and just go to an appliance website to find the part.

If it's a new one from china or germany: sounds like you need to make a long-distance phone call. AT&T would be good they say they are owned by germany! hope you talk hack electronics!

the motor? don't mess with that that might be 240v and the "thing on the end" might be a stator commutator contactor. sensitive instrument. if the motor works it works it has nothing to do with what cycle your on.
