Hi knowledgeable DIY-ers,

We've recently had some sockets moved/added in our son's bedroom and now need to resolve the holes in plasterboard. Can anyone recommend the best techniques to fix these - some are just holes, some are empty socket casings, some have wires running behind them, so not sure if you need to treat these differently? We have a range of fillers, expanding foam and plasterboard repair patches, but not sure which is best to use and whether we need to cover the wires beforehand? Any advice welcomed! Thanks

The cables are in "safe" places wrt sockets, so don't need covering with anything.

Can't see if it's dot'n'dab or battens - if the latter (and certainly in the left-hand photo the void looks big enough) the back boxes are the wrong type.

And I don't think there'll be enough adjustment to get this square

so you should level the box.

Letting in plasterboard patches, filling, and painting would be the best way to make good. Maybe think about using blanking plates on the old boxes rather than trying to fill the large holes.
