Hi,

I'm looking to hang a heavy mirror on a plasterboard wall.

The mirror is 6kg and the fixing is basically a strap attached to the centre of the mirror (see image below) so I guess I could hang the strap on multiple fixings side-by-side to spread the load.

Does anyone have any advice on whether this is even worth attempting and if so, how?

Having read a similar post on this forum, I contacted Fischer (fixings) to see if they had any advice but they haven't replied.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @mrdo

I would take a look at this webpage:

Depending on the size you go for, these will hold upwards of 71kg (apparently).

Easy to install with a flathead drill bit of the correct size.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

They look ideal - thanks for taking the time to reply.

Would I be best to install two side-by-side to try and spread the load?

Thanks again

Hi @mrdo

No need to put 2 in place side by side. You mentioned above that the mirror is 6kgs so one of these GripIts is more than capable of handling the weight. as long as your plasterboard is in good condition and not damp then this should be fine as well (single plasterboard should hold 20kgs + without any issues).

Hope this helps!
