Gravel fire pit

Have built a firepit on a slope from a concrete slab. Block wall height is 36” at its highest, so this means at the wall I have about 36” of gravel. I want to install fencing along the wall for safety reasons. So about 36” of gravel before I get to soil. Need suggestion on type of post and install method
