Hi Everyone! jonesy here looking for some second opinions :). as the title suggests there is a couple of issues i need help with, i have just move places with my partner and we need a bunch of stuff doing to the new place. firstly we are looking to get our loft insulated then converted, we had a quote for insulation and they guy quoted over £500 to get it done which i think is excessive!? but to be fair i think the company who quoted it are an affiliate of British gas.also does anyone know where we can get a decent loft conversion done for a reasonable price, again we are getting quotes at the minute so just shopping around. and finally we need some gates for the end of our drive as the current ones have seen much better days, we are deciding what material to get and weighing up the pro's and con's but we are leaning towards metal but again it depends on pricing, we are leaning towards these iron gates from ardengates.co.uk just for the longevity but i would like some other opinions, also will post pics of the house when it is all done :)

thanks

Hi,

You can get a loft insulated for much cheaper than £500.00 unless you live in a palace? You can do it yourself easily.

I would suggest that you tie the insulating in with the conversion - might as well get it all done at once.

Regarding loft conversion - get several quotes from reputable local builders. There are actually specialists in loft conversion. The best people to use are people that are recommended to you personally, but you can look online to find out about reputable local tradesmen.

Gates - iron gates will be expensive, but will look good. You will need to keep them painted to stop them rusting. Again - look up a reputable local fencing company.

I hope that this helps?

Chris
