I have a 1 car detached vinyl sided garage that has a significant amount of wood root where boards meet concrete / siding. Inspector identified the lack of gutters to be the primary cause (duh).
My question is :what is the best way to go about fixing this. Pretty clear the bottom couple boards need to be replaced / gaps fixed - do I need to rip up the exterior siding to do this? Do I need to put anything down directly on the boards (underlayment) before the siding or does it get nailed directly to it? What is the process?
