Darkened floor tile joints

Hey DIYers,
We moved out of our rented house and the joints between the floortiles in the kitchen are now darker, landlord complained. We tried scrubbing and a special cleaning product, as well as a special eraser for those purposes but no luck. The joints where light gray when new. Any idea what could be done?

Tell your landlord it's not your responsibility to seal the grout between the tile. Whoever installed the tile and grouted should have used a product to keep anything from absorbing into the grout to change the color, then after so much time it's supposed to be re-sealed anyways. That's not your responsibility! Your landlord should be mad at himself. It's a small problem and a pretty easy fix, the surface of the grout has to be carefully carved out, and fresh on top.
