Just moved into my house and the garage has some bad dampness coing through the walls. The walls of the garage are single brick with an earth retaining wall outside it.I have been out and tried to clean out between both walls but as there is only 100 mm and its over a metre deep its hard to get it all cleaned.

Can anyone suggest what i could do to help stop the dampness coming through into my garage please.

Thanks

Is the soil against the wall? Make sure you clear it back, you can get wall sealing paint to paint onto the brick which might help.

Really you want to make sure that water is draining away from the walls, not toward them.

Also, do you have guttering? Is it clear?

You could try putting some sort of soak away drain outside.

Hope that this helps a bit.
